Very engaging, fast read, clean, great love story.
~GMB Reader It is written in a journal-type format, so it is easy for busy Moms to slip in a chapter here and there. It's kind of pioneer/Little House on the Prairie, but with more girl power. We read it for our Enrichment book group and everyone really enjoyed it. There are two additional books -- Sarah's Quilt and The Star Garden that are sequels. The 1st book is the best though.
Enjoy!

A book which helps one really recognize the
strength in women. It helps put problems "out of the mind into action". Nancy Turner descriptions are arty, joyful and inspiring.
~J. Bell [Sarah's Quilt] is the
sequel to "These is my words". It is also very good. It continues with her story and her daughter as she grows up. There is also another
sequel to this called "The Star Garden". ~Jean

In the beginning it was a
challenge for me to adjust to a first person narrative. After reading a few pages and was introduced to other characters I had a hard time putting it down! I just wanted to know what else is going to happen to this poor girl! I am very thankful to be living in this time with all the luxuries we have, but at the same time envious of Sarah. I identified with her longing for her husband to stay put and never leave again. I am a army wife myself and have survived 4 deployments. I sympathized with some of her same feelings of anger and frustration of always being left to tend to things on her own, including raising the children. Very good read!!

An absolutely great book!! It really gives you a great insight how it was to live back then. Although it has one small paragraph of her meeting two Mormon Sisters and calling them "addled minded and they all claim to be
married to the same husband", it's a phenomenal book!

Oh, yes Angela! I'd
forgotten about the Mormon jab. Now I remember getting a good
laugh out of it. ~Caryn
