It's been quite a few years
since I've read Sophie, but it sticks
with me.
I just love that southern talk!
So there's Sophie (a spinster)
and her unlikely suitor, Mr. Oto (a Japanese gardener). Of
course, there are a few major complications, the biggest being the bombing of Pearl
Harbor.
Set in Salty Creek, GA, this
wartime novel will take you back to a bygone era. In true southern
style, this book is about lost love, small town gossip, and
racial prejudice.
