Go to the church bookstore and purchase 2-3 books on Newlyweds and marital relationships to read before/after you get married. Read them as a couple if possible so you can discuss them.

It is always nice to give a thank you gift to those who help with the wedding/reception. You can use live potted plants for decorations and then give them as gifts to your volunteer crew.

Info for the moms - The night before our wedding my mom sent my fiancé and I on our last date as single people. She gave us money for dinner and a movie. It was nice because it allowed us to enjoy ourselves while our moms stressed over the last minute stuff. We just relaxed and enjoyed the evening together.
