Valentine Poetry

There are lots of different ways to write poetry and it can be fun or romantic

LIMERICKS
My dad always used to write us limericks and often gave them to us in the form of a valentine card. Limericks are usually funny in nature, and don't really have to make sense.

A limerick has 5 lines.  The first, second and fifth line rhyme and the third and fourth lines rhyme.

Here is an example written by my father:

There is a soprano names Kelly
Who sings arias right from her belly
She performs at the Met
The Greatest songs yet
And she sings them all Acappelli

OTHER POETRY
There are lots of websites on the internet for writing poetry. Check some of them out, you don't have to be an English major to write something that is romantic for your special valentine!
 

Here is one simple example:
If I was clever
I would endeavor
to write a song for you

But since I am not
I'll give this a shot
A poem will have to do

or this style:
If I could take you in my arms
and fly away with you
I would be so happy
all my dreams would come true

These are kind of corny, just off the top of my head, but you get the idea.
