For all you Jane Austen
groupies, don't forget this one!
I'm not sure why I overlooked
Persuasion for so many years. Our book group read it and I absolutely loved Jane all over again (actually, this book is
about falling in love again).
This, being her final finished novel,
Persuasion has been termed "mature" and many ardent followers
have claimed it as Austen's finest (maybe not quite as light) work.
You will encounter "finely
drawn" characters of comedy, goodness, arrogance, selfishness and stupidity--true Austenian
irony and wit.
Check out the movie after the
book. I've heard some say the casting was off, but I thought
it just lacked the Hollywood pizzazz. I prefer movies this
way, just like Pride and Prejudice!
Happy Reading
